Camp schedule
The camp staff do their best to develop dynamic programming which is adapted for different age groups. The campers are divided into three age groups. The first are 5 and 6 year olds, followed by 7 and 8 year olds, and lastly 9 to 11 year olds. In the past, we have had a fourth group of 12 and 13 year olds.
Each summer, special coordinators are hired to develop programming related to the themes of Environment, Athletics, and Culture. Some of this programming might be arts and crafts, play- centered learning, or a small outing. Activities rotate themes each day.
Each Wednesday there is a mini-outing, or special presentation followed by a pool day afterwards. Examples, of mini-outings in 2019 were :
-
Visiting the Santropol Roulant rooftop garden to learn about sustainability
-
Have a kid-friendly DJ play music and have a mini dance party
-
Learning to canoe
-
Going on a guided nature walk
-
Inviting an inspiring person to give a presentation (for example, a paralympic athlete through Jouez Gagnant)
Each Friday there in an outing which lasts the majority of the day. Some examples of outings from 2019 are:
-
Going to the Aquadone
-
Visiting the Montreal Science Center
-
Going to the Verdun Beach
Many activities are set before the beginning of the camp session, however, there are always changes due to last minute cancellations or bad weather. Each Friday, the activities for the following week are confirmed and communicated to parents. An example of a weekly schedule would be:
Monday: Yoga, scavenger hunt, basketball games and tie dye
Tuesday: Sentier Urbain outing
Wednesday: An interactive film at the SAT & swimming at the Baldwin Pool
Thursday: Therapy dogs, collages and patch making
Friday: A trip to the aquadome!
